Bring your own domain to the party! With Pro Plus or above, you can set up your domain as the redirect link when your Flowcode is scanned or for your Flowpage domain.

Having control over the web domains that your audience is engaging in is extremely important. As it stands, there are two primary domains that your scanners currently see:

  1. Flowcode redirect domain — when you scan a code on your camera, you'll see a Flowcode URL.

  2. Flowpage domain — the URL that people see when they visit a brand's Flowpage

Domains can be shared across an org, teams, or any individuals within an organization once it's configured.


FAQs

What are white-label custom domains?

Within the Flowcode ecosystem, there are two primary domain touch-points specifically:

1. Flowcode redirect domain: what consumers see on their native camera app after scanning a code.

2. Flowpage domain: what consumers see when visiting a brand’s Flowpage

White-label custom domains allow both of those domain touch-points to use a domain owned by the creator or organization. For example, Pepsi can connect their own domain own domain and set up a Flowcode redirect subdomain like qr.pepsi.com and a Flowpage redirect subdomain like page.pepsi.com.

What can and can't be customized on Flowcodes?

Custom redirects/domains: Users have the ability to create a custom redirect (URL previewed next to the code when scanning) and apply it to a code during creation.

Redirects populate after a code is scanned and will appear next to the code in your camera app or sometimes as a loading page depending on your connection.

flowcode.com would be the redirect in this example.

Can't

Flowcode privacy smile: Unfortunately due to our privacy policy, we cannot take off the privacy smile (privacy.flowcode.com) that you see at the bottom of every Flowcode. This is a result of our legal agreement within our privacy policy.

Is there a limit to the number of custom domains that I connect for use with my Flowcodes and Flowpages?

Yes, Pro Plus can connect 1 domain, and Enterprise can connect as many domains as they want – there is no limit for Enterprise organizations.

Is there a limit to the number of subdomains that I can set up for use with my Flowcodes and Flowpages?

Yes, for each custom domain that you connect, you will be able to set up a maximum of 1 subdomain for Flowcode redirects and 1 subdomain for Flowpage URLs, respectively. However, you can create as many codes or as many pages as you want for a given subdomain – as long as its within the limits of your plan type. For example, if you connect pepsi.com as a custom domain then you can set up qr.pepsi.com and page.pepsi.com as subdomains

What is the difference between a custom subdomain and a co-branded subdomain?

A custom subdomain is a subdomain that you set up from a domain you own that you connected, for example, qr.pepsi.com. A co-branded subdomain is a subdomain that you set up from a Flowcode domain (i.e. flow2.it) like business.flow2.it. A custom subdomain allows for full branding and white-labeling of the consumer experience when scanning a Flowcode or visiting a Flowpage, whereas co-branded subdomains still retain an element of Flowcode branding.

Who has access to the different functionalities of our White Label feature set?

Can anyone within an organization connect a custom domain and set up subdomains?

No, only Admins in an organization or Admins on a team in an organization can connect a custom domain and set up subdomains for Enterprise. For Pro Plus, this does not apply as the individual user can connect a custom domain and set up a subdomain since they are not a part of an organization.

Within my org, can I share subdomains that I set up from my connected domains?

Yes, if you are Enterprise, you can share subdomains that you set up with your entire organization, specific teams and individuals just like you can do with codes and pages. One difference is that domains are owned by an organization – not an individual – and all admins within an organization equally share ownership of connected domains and the subdomains set up from them.

Can I delete a domain that I’ve connected and set up subdomains from?

Yes, you can delete a domain that you’ve connected to. In order to delete a domain, you must first delete any subdomains that you set up from it. After you delete a domain, it will remain visible on the Domains management page along with the deleted subdomains that had been set up from it.

If I delete a subdomain or domain, what happens to the Flowcodes or Flowpages that were associated with it?

When you delete a subdomain, any Flowcodes or Flowpages that were using that subdomain will also be deleted. This is a precautionary measure we take to avoid continued use of codes or pages that do not have a properly configured subdomain set up.

If you restore a deleted subdomain, the codes or pages associated with it will also be restored. Since the codes or pages that were deleted were using a domain that is not owned by Flowcode, people who scan one of those deleted Flowcodes or visit one of those deleted Flowpages will not see our standard code deleted messaging and would instead likely see a 404 or whatever experience the domain owned by you is now routing traffic to.

Can I edit a Flowcode I’ve already created to use a new subdomain that I’ve set up as its redirect?

Yes, you can update the redirect subdomain for an existing Flowcode to use a different subdomain, however, if this code has already been downloaded and/or printed, you will need to re-download and/or re-print it.

Changing the redirect for a Flowcode causes the encoding of its data pattern to change as well and therefore the code must be re-downloaded and/or re-reprinted when this happens, otherwise those previously downloaded or printed instances of it will continue to go through the old redirect.

Can I edit a Flowpage I’ve already created to use a new subdomain that I’ve set up?

Yes, you can update an existing Flowpage to use a new subdomain you’ve set up, however, if you’ve already shared a link to the Flowpage on social media or somewhere else it can be accessed then you will need to republish the link since the old link will not automatically redirect to the new one. has already been downloaded and/or printed, you will need to re-download and/or re-print it.

Is there a limit to the number of characters that the subdomains I set up can be?

Yes, there is a limit of 255 characters including https://. In the rare case that your subdomain exceeds this length you can reach out to [email protected] or your Client Success Manager and our team will work with you to help you get set up. For co-branded subdomains, there is a limit of 7 characters for the subdomain you can create.

How do I connect a domain?

  1. Navigate to the Domains tab on the lefthand navigation.

  2. Click Add Domain in the upper righthand corner.

  3. Select Use a domain I already own on the next page.

  4. Select Connect on the following page.

  5. Enter your domain into the input field.

  6. Read the note and click Confirm.

You’re now ready to set up your custom subdomains!

How do I set up a custom subdomain?

  1. Click the green Set up next to your domain on the Domains dashboard.

  2. On the popup, enter the subdomain name for your Flowcode redirect subdomain. We recommend qr for the Flowcode subdomain and page for the Flowpage subdomain.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Confirm the subdomain names that you’ve entered on the modal that appears.

  5. Click on the three vertical dots (kebab) of the subdomain you would like to configure first.

  6. Click on DNS Configuration.

  7. Add the Host and Value records shown to your DNS configuration within your host provider (GoDaddy, BlueHost, etc).

  8. Once, those records have been added, click Check Verification. If the records have been properly added to your DNS configuration, you will see a green check mark and a Verified status. If the records have not been properly added to your DNS configuration, you will see a red x mark and an Unverified status.

How do I use a custom or co-branded subdomain when creating a Flowcode?

  1. Click Create on the side navigation and select Flowcode.

  2. You'll have the option to select an alternative domain under the I want the custom redirect link for my code to be section.

  3. Select the subdomain you want to use.

How do I use a custom or co-branded subdomain when editing a Flowcode?

  1. Click into a Flowcode from your Flowcode dashboard, which will bring you to the Code Overview page.

  2. In the Advanced tab, scroll down to the Custom redirect link section.

  3. Click the Edit button and select the subdomain you want to use from the dropdown.

  4. Confirm that you want to change the subdomain and understand that any instances of this code that have been downloaded and/or printed will need to be re-downloaded and re-printed.

How do I use a custom or co-branded subdomain when creating a Flowpage?

  1. Click + Create and select Flowpage.

  2. Choose the subdomain you want to use and enter the slug for your Flowpage.

  3. Click Create.

How do I use the customization options when editing a Flowpage?

  1. Click into the Flowpage you want to change the subdomain of.

  2. Under the Settings tab, you can select the domain under the Change your Flowpage URL section.

  3. Make sure to hit Save changes.

How do I delete a domain?

  1. Click the three vertical dots (kebab) on the right hand side of the domain you'd like to delete.

  2. Select Remove domain from the dropdown.

  3. Confirm that you want to delete the domain on the modal that appears.

Note: you need to delete the subdomains associated with a domain before you can delete the domain.

How do I restore a domain?

  1. Find the domain you'd like to restore.

  2. Click the green Restore to the right of the domain. It should be in the Action Required state (yellow triangle with a white exclamation point).

  3. Confirm that you want to restore the domain on the modal that appears by clicking Confirm.

How do I delete a subdomain?

  1. Click the three dots on the right hand side of the domain card next to the subdomain.

  2. Click “Delete”.

  3. Confirm that you want to delete the subdomain on the modal that appears.
    Note: any Flowcodes or Flowpages using this subdomain will also be deleted. If you restore the subdomain, those Flowcodes and Flowpages will be restored.

How do I restore a subdomain?

  1. Find the domain containing the subdomain you'd like to restore. The subdomain will be specified below it.

  2. Click the green Restore to the right of the subdomain. It should be in the Action Required state (yellow triangle with a white exclamation point).

  3. Confirm that you want to restore the subdomain on the modal that appears by clicking Confirm.

Note: if there were Flowcodes or Flowpages that were using this subdomain, they will also be restored.
