Flowcode 1 to Flowcode 2 Migration Guide

Understand the migration process, what will be moved, where things will live in Flowcode 2, and what steps (if any) you may need to take.

Updated over 2 months ago

Welcome to Flowcode 2!

As we transition from Flowcode 1 to Flowcode 2, we want to ensure a smooth experience for all users. Below is a comprehensive guide that outlines what will happen during the migration process, what will be moved, where things will live in Flowcode 2, and what steps (if any) you may need to take. Our goal is to keep you up and running seamlessly, while unlocking the new capabilities of Flowcode 2.

What to Expect During the Migration

Your existing Flowcode assets—codes, folders, and related data—will be safely transferred to Flowcode 2. Flowcode 1 codes will continue to function throughout and beyond the migration process, ensuring zero downtime for your campaigns. You'll also have access to advanced analytics and improved features through Flowcode 2's updated platform.

Once migrated over, please do not create any more codes in Flowcode 1; keep all your new creation of assets in Flowcode 2 for best practices.

Signing in to Flowcode 1 vs. Flowcode 2

You’ll continue to use the same login credentials during the migration process. However, there are separate login pages for Flowcode 1 and Flowcode 2.

Both Flowcode 1 and Flowcode 2 can be accessed on the homepage of Flowcode.com in the top right hand corner. Click log in and then the respective ‘Flowcode 1’ or ‘Flowcode 2’ respectively.

If you have issues, you can go directly to the platform with the following links:

What Will Be Migrated?

  1. Flowcode 1 QR Codes:

    • Migration Method: Your QR codes from Flowcode 1 will be moved to Flowcode 2, and they will still direct users to the same destinations. We’ve built tools to automate this process by creating a new version of your QR code in Flowcode 2. Then, the original QR code in Flowcode 1 is updated to point to the new Flowcode 2 version, allowing us to capture analytics for the QR code.

    • Tracking: These codes will begin collecting anonymous FlowID data, with plans to provide more detailed consumer insights starting in early 2025

  2. Flowpages form Flowcode 1:

    • Flowpages won’t be automatically migrated. However, please reach out to us to request assistance in migrating.

    • Flowpages: Note if you still need to edit your original Flowpages, that will need to be done in the Flowcode 1 platform.

  3. Folders and Subfolders:

    • You can migrate folders, including all subfolders and codes, from Flowcode 1 to designated Workspaces in Flowcode 2. This ensures that your organizational structures remain intact.

      1. Note: Folders should no longer be used to permission access of assets from one person or team to another. Folders should be used now for asset organization within a workspace. All folders within a Flowcode 2 workspace will be visible by all members of that workspace.

  4. Historical Analytics:

    • Codes: All historical data attached to your Flowcode 1 codes will transfer to Flowcode 2. You’ll be able to access both new and past performance metrics within the Flowcode 2 analytics dashboard.

    • Flowpages: Flowpage data will only be available in Flowcode 1.

  5. Custom Domains:

    • Handling: Custom domains used in Flowcode 1 will still work.

      1. For Flowcode 1 assets using custom domains, nothing will need to be done.

      2. To maintain functionality for new Flowcode 2-created assets, you will need to re-set and verify new domains in Flowcode 2. We have documentation for setting up custom domains in Flowcode 2 here and your CSM will support you on this as needed.

Understanding Flowcode 2: Where Will Everything Live?

Flowcode 2 introduces new organizational structures designed to improve collaboration and data management. Here’s a breakdown of how Flowcode 2 compares to Flowcode 1:

  1. Workspaces:

    • In Flowcode 2, codes and folders are organized within Workspaces. A Workspace acts like a container for your codes, folders, and team members, making it easier to manage large-scale campaigns and workflows.

      1. When in the ‘Home’ section of your workspace, you will be able to see all Conversion Flow analytics for that given workspace.

  2. Folders and Subfolders:

    • All folders and their subfolders from Flowcode 1 will migrate to Flowcode 2. You will find them nested within their designated Workspaces.

      1. Note: Folders should no longer be used to permission access of assets from one person or team to another. Folders should be used now for asset organization within a workspace. All folders within a Flowcode 2 workspace will be visible by all members of that workspace.

  3. Collaboration and Permissions:

    • Flowcode 2 offers advanced permissions, allowing you to grant specific access based on Workspaces and user roles. This enhances team collaboration across departments.

  4. Brand Kits and Templates:

    • Flowcode 2 offers the ability to create Brand Kits—a feature not available in Flowcode 1. You can use these kits to maintain brand consistency across all codes and pages. While templates from Flowcode 1 won't carry over, they can be recreated within these new Brand Kits.

  5. Assets:

    • Flowcodes from Flowcode 1 will now be within Conversion Flows on Flowcode 2.

    • Flowpages won’t be automatically migrated. However, please reach out to us to request assistance in migrating.

    • Flowpages: Note if you still need to edit your original Flowpages, that will need to be done in the Flowcode 1 platform.

  6. Analytics:

    • Conversion Flow reporting: these contain all conversion flow performance stats across the following…

      1. Organization level analytics: for all data across all workspaces

      2. Workspace level analytics: for all data across conversion flows within a workspace

      3. Conversion Flow level analytics: for data specific to that conversion flow

    • Audience reporting under ‘Audience’ section: these contain all your audience ID and conversions data

      1. Workspace level audience insights: for all data across conversion flows within a workspace

Asset (Code and Page) Creation Going Forward:

Once migration is complete, please refrain from creating new codes in Flowcode 1. All new codes should be created in Flowcode 2 to avoid duplicate migrations.

Flowpages: Note if you still need to edit your original Flowpages, that will need to be done in the Flowcode 1 platform.
