Short URLs and Destination URLs may sound similar, but they serve very different purposes—and understanding the difference is key as you navigate through the Flowcode platform. This article breaks down what each one does and when to use it.
Simply put:
Short URLs are Digital Entry Points that you create.
Destination URLs are websites that already exist.
Let’s break it down even further:
1. Short URLs
Short URLs are digital entry points you create on the Flowcode platform that bring your branded experiences to life across channels like email, social, and more.
Platform Asset: It is a unique link you generate and manage directly in your Flowcode account.
Purpose: It is a digital entry point for how consumers are able to access your conversion flows, similar to how a QR code is an entry point in the offline space.
Customization: Fully customizable domains and slugs give your audience a trusted, on-brand experience—while keeping your backend organized and your campaigns easy to track
Data & Tracking: Every Short URL acts as a separate, trackable source of traffic. You use the Short URL to measure exactly how many clicks that specific digital entry point received.
2. Destination URLs
A Destination URL is an existing web address you can use as the redirect for a conversion flow—ideal when you want to send users directly to an external site instead of a Flowcode landing page or any other type of experience.
External Website: Destination URLs link out to external websites.
Purpose: It tells the Flowcode platform where to send the user after they have engaged with one of your entry points (the QR code or the Short URL).
Existing URL: You do not create or shorten this link on Flowcode; you simply define it as the final destination.
