How to Set Up Dynamic Codes to External Destinations
Updated yesterday

This article explains how to create a conversion flow with multiple entry points that lead to dynamic external destinations, while monitoring their individual performance. This is accomplished by leveraging Data Properties to personalize user interactions and campaigns, even with large datasets.

Tracking multiple codes within a single, consolidated effort allows for seamless performance comparison and optimization of underperforming codes. For example, imagine a magazine with multiple codes on different pages. You want to understand which page is driving the most scans. Flowcode lets you see how each code within that magazine performed, enabling you to optimize all code placements and drive the most engagement.

So, how do we set this up in the platform?

  1. Click “Create Flow” to begin process

2. Click “Scan to URL” under “Scan Destination”

3. Fill out the basic Flow information and click “Create” which will bring you to the Flow Editor

4. Once you are in the flow editor, you will notice that the following steps are available for both QR Codes and Short URLs depending on your specific use case. For the sake of this example we will assume QR Codes

5. At the top of the page click “Add data properties”

6. A fly-out will appear on the right hand side of the screen, click “Add data property”. This ensures that every subsequent entry point generated automatically has the input field for the data property of your choosing

7. Fill out the fields of your desired data property: Label, Description, Default Value

  • In the “Label” section type “URL”

8. Once you’ve added your Data Property, you should see it show up within your Flow Editor as an editable field beneath the entry point preview

9. You may now create your different codes and enter the unique URL for each of them

10. Once you’ve created all of your codes with the filled in data property, navigate to the “Website” tab on the left hand side of the platform where you need to input your URL data property (which will be dynamic based on which code is scanned)

11. In the “Destination URL” section, click on the { } to reveal a drop down of the data properties you just created. Select the “URL” data property as the Destination URL.

12. Click save and Exit. Make sure to test your codes by bulk downloading your entry points and scanning / clicking each to ensure the experience is what you’d expect.

By consolidating the tracking of multiple flows to external destinations within a single effort, you gain a powerful, holistic view of a campaign’s performance. This side-by-side comparison eliminates the need for disparate reports and guesswork, allowing you to quickly identify top performers and pinpoint areas for improvement across all your connected platforms. Seeing how different entry points perform in driving traffic to your external sites, apps, or other destinations empowers you to understand which strategies are most effective. Ultimately, this streamlined approach empowers you to make data-driven decisions, optimize your campaigns effectively, and maximize the overall impact of your efforts, all from the convenience of a unified platform.
