How to Create a FlowURL

Understanding Flowcode's ShortURL capabilities

Updated over a week ago

FlowURLs are Flowcode's Short URL product, which allows users to share their Conversion Flows digitally across email, social media, and other digital platforms, complementing QR codes. This feature supports cross-platform accessibility and enhances tracking by distinguishing clicks from QR code scans in analytics.

Feature Highlights

  1. Creating FlowURLs

    • Users can create one or more FlowURLs per Conversion Flow

    • A FlowURL is created by default for new Conversion Flows created once the feature flag is enabled. For previously created Conversion Flows, you must explicitly go in and create a FlowURL

    • A random 9-character string is generated by default, with the option to customize it when using a custom domain.

    • Each FlowURL can be associated with specific data properties

  2. Managing FlowURLs

    • FlowURLs appear in the same table as Flowcodes (QR), supporting:

      • Copying URLs

      • Deleting URLs

      • Renaming URLs

      • Adding data properties

  3. Analytics and Tracking

    • FlowURL clicks are tracked separately from Flowcode scans

    • Metrics are included at the Conversion Flow, Workspace, and Organization levels, with updates to tiles and charts for URL clicks

  4. Previewing and Sharing

    • Users can preview Conversion Flows via FlowURLs directly in the platform

How to Use

  1. Create a FlowURL:

    • Navigate to an existing Conversion Flow or create a net-new Conversion Flow

    • In the Flow Editor, go to the "Short URLs" tab. By default, there is already a FlowURL created for each Conversion Flow

    • Either click the existing FlowURL and rename it or, to add a new one, click "Add short URL" and then enter a name for the new FlowURL

  2. Adding data properties

    • When creating a FlowURL, fields to enter Data Properties will appear if you’ve set up Data Properties for the Conversion Flow

    • To edit the Data Property values for an existing FlowURL, simply click on the FlowURL name and enter in the Data Property values in the input fields that appear

  3. Viewing Analytics

    • When viewing analytics at both the Conversion Flow level and Workspace level, you’ll be able to see distinct analytics for “URL Clicks” that track clicks on the FlowURL(s) that have been created

    • Additionally, you can filter your analytics at the Conversion Flow level based on entry point to see specific analytics for a FlowURL
