Welcome to the best practices guide for printing your Flowcode! In this article, you will learn how to print your Flowcode and maximize scans.

Size

  • Size is the most important thing to keep in mind when printing or sharing your Flowcode. Larger Flowcodes are easier to scan and help increase your customer engagement.

  • Too small of codes usually end up unnoticed or unscannable. If printing on small to medium sized merchandise (ex: business cards or flyers), codes should be at least 1x1 inch. If you're uncertain, it's better to be cautious and print the Flowcode bigger. But how big exactly? Practice scanning with your ideal print size and go from there. Remember that the smaller you make it, the closer customers will have to get.

Call to Action (CTA)

  • Why would a customer scan your Flowcode? Encourage customers to interact with your code by telling them what to expect when they scan. You can either place the call to action in the center of your code (ex: Scan Here) or as additional text above, below or around your code.

  • We recommend a simple and direct call to action. Here are some examples:

    • Scan to view menu

    • Scan to shop

    • Scan to make a reservation

    • Scan to connect to wifi

    • Scan to call customer service

    • Scan to follow us on Instagram

    • Scan to view our website

Education

  • In addition to a call to action, it's best to include simple instructions with your Flowcode. Many people are new to QR codes, so we recommend including education to ensure that all your customers are able to scan your Flowcode with ease.

  • Here are some examples if you need help:

    • Scan the Flowcode using the camera on your phone

    • Scan here using camera on your phone

    • Open camera, aim at Flowcode, tap the notification banner

    • Open, Aim, Tap

Testing your Flowcode

  • Before you print thousands of business cards, or hundreds of shirts with Flowcodes, it's important to test a sample to ensure it scans easily and redirects to your desired destination.

  • Many factors like color contrast, code size and product material can impact how well your Flowcode works. Proofing your code on the final product is critical to success. If your code does not scan after being printed, make sure you are following all of our best practices. Placing your Flowcode

  • When placing your printed material, you'll want to ensure that it is in a location where it can be easily scanned. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

    • Height: your Flowcode should be placed at or around eye level.

    • Distance: if your Flowcode is printed on a flyer or poster, make sure that your code is large enough to be scanned from a distance.

    • Size: remember, smaller Flowcodes are harder to scan, so if your code is the minimum size (1x1 inch), make sure that customers can get as close as they want.

    • Material: if your Flowcode is printed on glossy material or behind a glass panel, try to minimize glare as much as possible.
