Good news, there is no app needed to scan a Flowcode! Anyone can scan a Flowcode using the camera on their smartphone in two simple steps:

  1. Aim your camera at the code (if you’re farther away from the code, you may need to zoom in a bit to focus on it).

  2. Tap the notification banner when it appears to be redirected to the page the code scans to.

It’s as easy as that!

However, if the code does not scan when you hover your phone over it, it could be to the brand of smartphone you are using.

iPhone

iPhones are the most commonly used device type for scanning QR codes in the US as they are able to recognize the codes quickly and effectively.

When using an iOS device, point the camera at the code and make sure the eyes (large squares) of the code are read by the focus of the camera lens.

If you are too close or too far away from the code, you might need to close out of the native camera app and start again.

Android

The internal camera of many Android phones (especially phones more than 2 years old) look for a standard QR code, with a white background and black data points/eyes. Some Android internal cameras will not recognize a QR code that has data points lighter than the background (white on black, light blue on dark blue, etc.). Because of this, we recommend installing Google Lens on your phone.

When using an Android device with Google Lens installed:

  1. Hold down the home button until a talking bar appears, to the left of that bar you should see a Qr code icon

  2. Press this icon and Google lens should appear

  3. Scan the code

If your phone does not have Google Lens activated, open the quick settings panel and enable QR code scanning.
